Stay safe out there!
We're not going to bore you to death with Health & Safety issues, but we would like to raise awareness of some simple ideas. Keeping yourself safe whilst riding on the mountain can make all the difference between an average ride and one which takes your breath away.
Make sure you let people know where you plan to go riding & agree a return time.
We recommend taking a fully charged mobile phone We ALWAYS recommend you ride with at least one other person, or in a group - It's far more fun riding in a group and you can share the weight of spares & tools! Mountain biking can sometimes be a dangerous sport, especially when you dont know where you're going. Not only will you be unsure of the dificulty level, you may not know whether your riding ability or even the bike is up to the demands of the trail.
We strongly recommend booking a local guide when alpine riding. Not only will they make sure you stay safe & having fun, they'll also be likely to give you hints, tips & riding techniques that will help you to enjoy & improve your riding. Make sure you are properly prepared for your intended ride - Have you enough food / drink with you? Have you brought spare kit / tubes with you? Regardless of your experience level, if you intend on downhill riding we advise using protective equipment. Body armour not only protects you from minor impacts, it provides you with additional confidence.

NEVER RIDE OFF THE TRAIL. This destroys natural habitats and can cause major damage that lasts for years.
ALWAYS BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHER BIKERS, WALKERS & WILDLIFE
What you should bring with you!
Here's a basic list of your usual biking kit. This is a comprehensive list. should include:
*available locally, although limited
Dont worry if you dont have some or all of these items. They are easily available in various shops in and around Kaprun.
Health & Fitness
We are often asked 'How fit do I need to be?' As long as you're comfortable on a mountain bike and you choose the duration of your ride to your ability there should be no problem. Obviously, the more you ride at home & the more preparation you do beforehand the more you'll enjoy your time in Austria. We advise you spend at least a few hours a week riding up to your holiday, preparing yourself for the saddle.
